The idea of forming a Masonic Lodge in Eltham must have happe ned in the first half of the previous year\, because by the 20th of July i n 1910 a petition to form as new Lodge was drawn up. It was signed by 17 i nterested local Masons\, recommended by Richmond River Lodge No. 77\, coun tersigned and approved by Lodge Bangalow No. 250 and forwarded to the Most Worshipful Master of the Grand Lodge of New South Wales and the Australia n Capital Territory for approval.\nThat was over 100 years ago and the Mas onic community surrounding Eltham is still as strong as ever. Masons come to meet from surrounding towns like Lismore\, Bangalow\, Dunoon and even B yron Bay to attend regular meetings and to enjoy the hearty welcome that i s synonymous with Freemasonry and it's brethren. Many of us as kids wonder ed what dad was doing when he would dress up at night and take his small b ag of to the lodge and many of us have carried on that tradition.
